Estrella Mountain Community College is a nationally recognized leader within the Maricopa Community College District.
Offering courses since 1990, the college opened its Avondale campus in 1992.
Providing educational opportunities and workforce training for western metropolitan Phoenix, Estrella Mountain serves
a burgeoning population of over 285,000 residents. Located in the fastest growing region of the county, the college’s
service area population is expected to grow to more than 1.6 million people by 2030.
Currently, more than half of Estrella Mountain’s service area is minority, with minority students comprising more than
42% of the college’s total enrollment. The college's annual enrollment stands at more than 13,000 students and is
projected to to reach over 40,000, credit, non-credit and Skill Center, when the college’s 135-acre campus is
complete.
With growth the driving force and planning for the future a constant necessity, Estrella Mountain has developed unique
strengths to meet its challenges. Strengths in strategic planning, campus design, integration of technology, community
partnerships, and the cultivation of a customer-driven approach to program development have all contributed to
Estrella Mountain’s success.
Estrella Mountain Community College offers numerous associate degrees, university transfer partnerships and 17
specialized certificate programs. In addition, the college is home to the SouthWest Skill Center.
The college is also home to the NASA Center for Success in Math & Science at Estrella Mountain. Created to serve as
the core driver of student success in mathematics and science, the goal of the Center is to insure that under–
represented groups are fully prepared to pursue careers that require mastery of these academic disciplines.
Estrella Mountain Community College is a Maricopa Community College, and is accredited by The Higher Learning
Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
